AppleWin v1.29.10.0

Apple II

Changelog:

Citation
1.29.10.0 - 13 Feb 2020

[PR #756] Write support for WOZ1/WOZ2 images.
- Fixes titles that need write support (see: #686, #704, #705).
- Allow creation of a blank (WOZ2) image (see AppleWin.chm: 'Creating Disk Images'').
- multi-file zip support extended to scan for the first valid image.
  • useful for most woz-a-day multi-file zips which have at least 2 entries and previously needed unzipping.

NB. files in multi-file zips are still write-protected (same for all image types, not just woz).

DBGL v0.91

Changelog :

Citation
v0.91 (02/08/2020)

- Added support for importing multiple gamepacks in one go (mgtroyas).
- Fixed dosbox conf canonical file location for some scenarios.
- Fixed check for default Dosboxversion when initiating add game wizard (Luke Jensen).
- Provide basic support for importing GoG profiles (using "mount c .." or consisting of multiple confs) (Luke Jensen).
- Improve jre support on MacOS (Jorge).
- Take .cue/.iso/etc into account when determining canonical game dir (pantercat).
- Mark games for export with path containing pathseparator (Neville).

SSF 0.12 Preview R15

Changelog :

Citation
2020/02/07 2.95 released

- "Windows Pad Order" has been added to the pad setting screen. When
connecting two or more Windows Gamepads, you can set which pad is assigned
with the highest priority. Use this when the second and subsequent pads
are connected, and the priority of the pad that was originally changed is
lowered and the setting is shifted.
- "Overscan TV Mode" has been added to the "Screen" menu. Since v2.92, the
aspect ratio is displayed more accurately, but black belts are displayed on
the left and right in the 256 dot horizontal mode. When this menu is
selected, the black belt display part can be eliminated and the left and
right full window display (similar to Ootake before v2.91) can be made.
However, 6 dots at the bottom of the screen are hidden to maintain the
aspect ratio.
Originally, "6 dots at the bottom of the PC Engine screen" is rarely used
for important displays, and most games can be displayed without any
problems. I think that many old CRT televisions for home use had a display
in this range. Use it when you want to play in that atmosphere or when you
want to capture with the left and right filled when capturing the screen.
You can also switch this by pressing the [F11] key.
- "Adjust TV Top-Position" has been added to the "Screen" menu. In
"Overscan TV Mode", you can adjust the vertical display start position. It
can also be adjusted by pressing the [Ctrl]+[F11] keys multiple times.
- The shortcut key of the overscan area display was changed from [F11] key to
[F12] key. [Ctrl]+[F12] key can also be used to display the overscan area
of top only.
* [F11] key switches overscan TV mode.
* If you want to switch to full screen, press [Alt]+[Enter] key.
Also, when displaying the overscan area, only the top and bottom areas are
displayed by default.
- When pressing [F12] key while pressing [Ctrl] key, only the top part is
displayed in the overscan area.
- "Start Overscan TV Mode" has been added to "Setting->Screen" menu. Use this
mode when you want to switch to overscan TV mode (the viewing range is as
narrow as an old home TV) from startup.
- Cleaned up the "Capture" menu. Also, screenshot size and drawing method are
displayed in the menu.
- "Overscan display state" is not restored during normal state loading. It
restores only when loading resume(Turn on the "File->Set Resume" menu).
- When switching overscan area display ([F11] key) in window mode, if the
window is below the center of the desktop screen, the window position after
switching is adjusted to the bottom side.
- In the audio graph display ([9],[0] keys), in some games, the yellow graph
remained even when the DDA sampling sound was muted. This problem has been
corrected.
- Fixed the problem that the pad was not reflected when changing the gamepad
while Ootake was running when setting the gamepad.
- "1366x768" was added to the FullScreen resolution setting menu field.
- "FullScreen 640x480 60Hz" in the "Screen" menu (for switching to full
screen mode with any PC environment) has been changed to
"FullScreen 800x600 60Hz". Also, at the time of execution, the drawing
method is returned to the default(Direct3D).
- When switching to full screen ([Alt]+[Enter] key), the screen is switched
stably even in a PC environment where the available memory is low.
- Fixed a bug (from v2.92) that it display was shifted in a game that can
play with 4-split display.
- The speed and timing have been made closer to those of the real machine.
In "Chibi Maruko Chan", solved the problem that the display of the raster
interrupt part was distorted when clearing the stage.
- Fixed a bug that recording of the play record function (
"Capture->Play Record" menu) was not performed correctly at some games.
- Other minor details have been fixed and improved.

Reicast Test build 333b7c5 (03-02-2020)

- Configuration requise

* Windows
  • Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 et 10 sont supportés
  • DirectX 11
  • .NET Framework 4.5+

* Linux
  • glibc 2.24+
  • Mono 4.2.1+
  • SDL 2

Le voilà donc qui passe en version 0.9.9.

Changelog :

Citation

ARCADE 0.218

There were some changes but I've forgotten what they were - I've had rather a lot on my mind with the wildfires and the terrible heat and humidity.

I've had to disable the creation of CPU.ini - it seems that one of the 6 new CPUs created this month in Mame is faulty. This issue caused MameUI to crash at start.

MAME 0.218

Citation
It’s time for MAME 0.218, the first MAME release of 2020! We’ve added a couple of very interesting alternate versions of systems this month. One is a location test version of NMK’s GunNail, with different stage order, wider player shot patterns, a larger player hitbox, and lots of other differences from the final release. The other is The Last Apostle Puppetshow, an incredibly rare export version of Home Data’s Reikai Doushi. Also significant is a newer version Valadon Automation’s Super Bagman. There’s been enough progress made on Konami’s medal games for a number of them to be considered working, including Buttobi Striker, Dam Dam Boy, Korokoro Pensuke, Shuriken Boy and Yu-Gi-Oh Monster Capsule. Don’t expect too much in terms of gameplay though — they’re essentially gambling games for children.

There are several major computer emulation advances in this release, in completely different areas. Possibly most exciting is the ability to install and run Windows NT on the MIPS Magnum R4000 “Jazz” workstation, with working networking. With the assistance of Ash Wolf, MAME now emulates the Psion Series 5mx PDA. Psion’s EPOC32 operating system is the direct ancestor of the Symbian operating system, that powered a generation of smartphones. IDE and SCSI hard disk support for Acorn 8-bit systems has been added, the latter being one of the components of the BBC Domesday Project system. In PC emulation, Windows 3.1 is now usable with S3 ViRGE accelerated 2D video drivers. F.Ulivi has contributed microcode-level emulation of the iSBC-202 floppy controller for the Intel Intellec MDS-II system, adding 8" floppy disk support.

Of course there are plenty of other improvements and additions, including re-dumps of all the incorrectly dumped GameKing cartridges, disassemblers for PACE, WE32100 and “RipFire” 88000, better Geneve 9640 emulation, and plenty of working software list additions.

SSF 0.12 Preview R14

Changelog :

Citation
Release 18 (200119)

Many of the floppy panes in the status bar now have user interface
functions utilizing the mouse. Consult the manual for details.

Files can now be dragged and dropped onto the status bar, too.

If the same file is being inserted into both drives with Ctrl-Alt-I, it will
now attempt to insert the second disk (if available) into the second drive.

Holding Control while selecting an item from a floppy disk MRU menu will now
cause the corresponding disk image to be inserted into both floppy drives.

Added a menu command to fill a range of memory with an 8-bit value.

Added menu keyboard mnemonics (A - P) for multi-disk files. There are conflicts.

Bug fixes:

The mouse wasn't unblanking in the full-screen status area.

The mouse would never unblank while a menu opened with the Alt key was active.

Fixed a few minor concurrency issues.

Saving state with the keyboard in Game Mode could cause accelerator keys
to get saved to the file in the depressed state.

In order to avoid sending extraneous key presses to the emulated X68000,
keyboard input is now ignored for a fraction of a second whenever menus
and dialogs close, with a few minor exceptions.

mGBA 0.8.0

Citation
A little late (okay, a lot late), mGBA 0.8.0 is finally available as a stable release. This is a major feature release and includes some highly anticipated features. Notably, the high-resolution OpenGL renderer for GBA games, BattleChip Gate support, interframe blending, and much more. Additionally, it includes over 50 bug fixes and hundreds of other changes. A preview of the features follows after the cut, along with a full list of changes.

High-resolution OpenGL renderer

The most anticipated feature of mGBA 0.8.0 is the high-resolution OpenGL renderer. With this enabled the GBA screen is rendered on the GPU instead of the usual software rendering, which allows scaling up beyond the usual 240×160 resolution without thrashing the CPU. With a good GPU it can even render at 4K resolution. This lets rotation and scaling effects look much cleaner and allows the “mode 7” effect to be even more impressive.

Final Fantasy VI's airship "mode 7" effect F-Zero: Climax takes advantage of rotated sprites in addition to "mode 7" effects Gunstar Super Heroes uses rotated and mosaic sprites Sonic Battle uses affine sprites to create the arena

The high-resolution OpenGL renderer is available on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Switch. Enable it under the Enhancements pane in Settings. Performance improvements and bug fixes are expected in future releases.

BattleChip Gate

The BattleChip Gate (and associated Progress Gate and Beast Link Gate) are long unemulated peripherals for the GBA. They hook up to MegaMan Battle Network 4, 5 and 6 respectively and allow access to the Operation Battle minigame, as well as using chips in-game. Apart from use in multiplayer, these peripherals are fully supported in mGBA 0.8.0. Just open the BattleChip Gate dialog, under Emulation, before the title screen comes up to use them. If inserted too late the game may not recognize it and you’ll need to reset.

The first time the BattleChip Gate screen is opened it will prompt to download all of the BattleChip icons. This is optional, but recommended. After opening the dialog you can select a deck of chips you want to use and simply click on them to insert them.

Interframe blending

A common effect on the GBA is to do every-other frame flickering. While this is not a new effect by any stretch of the imagination—games have been doing this for decades—it only works well on screens with ghosting. On old console games this targeted phosphor fading on CRTs, whereas on the GBA it targets the LCD panel’s ghosting. However, most modern LCDs have a much better response time, and sometimes the framerate isn’t perfect, leading to visible flickering. As such, a long-standing request for mGBA has been interframe blending. While ghosting has been possible for some time now with shaders, it was never single-frame and baked into the frontends. In mGBA 0.8.0 every official port received a single-frame interframe blending feature. Some examples of the effects of this feature are seen below.

In this example, Golden Sun jitters the world map to provide a temporal anti-aliasing effect.

Many games flicker parts of the screen to create a semi-transparency effect. Here F-Zero: Maximum Velocity flickers the minimap.

Frame inspector

The new frame inspector feature in mGBA 0.8.0 allows for advanced dissection of rendered frames. By replaying the rendering of a single frame with settings tweaked it lets users figure out which component of a screen is rendered where on the screen, disable specific layers, or even select sprites. Disabling scanline effects also lets users see tricks that a game employs for more advanced scenes. These tweaked versions of a frame can be exported to a PNG if desired.

The frame inspector showing off a highlighted sprite and several HUD sprites disabled.

Currently only GBA games are supported in the frame inspector. GB/C games and more tweaking features will be added in later versions of mGBA.

And more…

Some smaller and experimental features were also added in 0.8.0:

- mGBA now has Discord Rich Presence integration for displaying the current game you’re playing. Turn it on in the Interface panel in settings.
- A work-in-progress “XQ” audio feature that works with most GBA games is included in the Enhancements pane in settings. It’s a very early WIP and not production ready but may work decently with some games. It also does not work yet with A/V recording due to implementation limitations.
- Support for loading a few additional cheat code file formats. However, VBA .clt files are still not supported at this time.
- Several smaller debugging features, such as an improved map viewer, an improved sprite viewer, and memory range dumping.
